Shamanic Chocolate Ceremony - Dance Camp 2014
The Medicine for the Gods… & Goddesses
Join us in ceremony, continuing the Ancient traditions of the Mayans & Aztecs who used chocolate for spiritual purposes.

“An Indigenous myth says that whenever the balance between humans & nature becomes threatened, Cacao comes from the rainforest to open people's hearts & return the planet to a state of harmony.”

We will raise the mists of old beliefs & assumptions, allowing more light and love into our lives; creating ripples of light and love reaching all ends of the earth.
The Cacao Spirit was one of the most revered of the ancient Mayan Deities. They called Cacao ‘The water that runs through the Heart’. They understood that it opened the heart and allowed for a greater love-based connection, allowing the clearing of psychological, emotional, and spiritual pain and emotional ‘densities’ to be released from the body and healed.

Cacao is ‘The Food for the Shift’. Testimonials here …

Jess Chaplin - Afro-Brazilian Dance

Jess is a self confessed Afro-Brazilian 'aficionado' and will bring the color, energy and the joy of dance from Brazil to Dance Camp Spain she will run workshops during the four day event and we might even get a performance resulting from her workshops......Not to be missed.

Meet Jess

Hi, my name is Jessica, I am 25 years old and I am currently specializing in Afro-Brazilian dance. Ever since I was little I have been a passionate dancer and I have enjoyed learning various different styles including flamenco, belly dancing and contemporary dance. My enthusiasm for Afro-Brazilian dance commenced during my language studies (Spanish and Portuguese) where I got the opportunity to study abroad in Brazil and submerge myself in the culture and dance- scene of this vibrant country .I recently went back to Brazil to pursue my love and further my skills in afro-Brazilian dance. I studied the various different styles of samba. The first part of my stay was spent in Salvador, Bahia, the melting pot of Afro- Brazilian culture and birthplace of samba were I studied the more classical styles of samba including "samba traditional" , "pagoda and "axe." For the second half of my stay I travelled down to Rio de Janeiro were I focused on "samba no pe", the more glamorous and flamboyant style of samba practiced by the "sambistas" in the exuberant parades during the carnival period.

Jess is sure to bring a carnival atmosphere to our event,
don't miss her!

Kieran Edmonds-Breakin' Limits

"Deep inside us all we know the body never lies. So let's walk like champion's, let's move like super heroes.. let's get those feelings embodied in us. When we train like this we strengthen a life skill that can now be used. So rather than falling into old patterns, we create a new alignment that holds us strong in challenging circumstances."

Who is it for

This is for people who want to make a real transformation to their lives. People who believe in being greater than what they are currently experiencing, who don't conform to growing old but growing happy :) This is about reaching your potential and using the most efficient and effective tools we have at this time! We are progressive and ever evolving and we recognise this body as a vehicle that allows us to make dreams a reality!

What do we do

We love to move our bodies. Using techniques from martial arts, dance and acrobatics. We'll be developing a healthy relationship with our body's by honoring its sacred power, showing it respect and showing ourselves how strong we truly are. Bringing an awareness to our breathe so we develop a deep conscious movement that is executed with control. We develop our artistic expression through movement. We will have fun discovering new planes of movement and interacting in partnerships which further develops our understanding of biomechanics and therefore learning to trust and be responsible for another.

What to expect

Firstly set in some form an intention for what we'll work be working on.
Warm up the physical body. Get moving around the space. Energy moving freely.
Go deeper into our movements by exploring whole body natural animalistic movements which condition the body to become strong and flexible.
Then we'll be ready for isolated movements that not only challenge our coordination but expand our awareness of what can be done with our body's which is a lot of fun!
To grow we must share so now we move onto partner work. Dance side by side. Interact with choreographed movements or improvised. We will also work with supporting each other in movement like handstands or other similar acro-balance skills.
We will then end with some kind of game that unites us all together in a circle and celebrates our achievements.

Class plan and movement list

Moves I like
Basic common move - Step n Out (with variations)
Animal movements:
Lizard crawl - opens hips, works your chest and upper body. Strengthens and opens.
Frog hop onto hands - opens hips, develops elastic strength of upper body
Shaolin squats - opens hips and lateral movements, plyometric
Leg swings - Stretches hamstrings, works your balance (variations possible)
Liquid waving - develops focused artistic expression, you get better at listening to yourself and following your own intuition. Works both hemispheres of your brain. Coordination. Upper body fluidity and naturalness.
Twisting squat - open's hip, works balance, proprioception
Pistol Squat - start with partner and use variations if necessary. Balance, leg strength, glutes
Handstands - press ups, holds, one hands, dynamic walking.
Be sure to catch Kieran at this years Dance Camp.

Yoga with Aziza

"Trying to live simply and gently on this beautiful Earth."
Meet Aziza
Aziza hails from Belizenskiy, Russia, she studied Yoga in India as a means of coming to terms with the challenges that life can thrust upon us.
This year amongst other things, Aziza will be teaching Hatha yoga - individual and group classes, she is looking forward to being at Dance Camp Spain, so be sure to look her up.

Aziza Says;

"It can take a hard knock to make changes in ones life"

"Dark times brought me to new healthy lifestyle and outlook. After an illness some years ago, I discovered and fell in love with yoga, and India. The changes and benefits to me have been incredible.
Life flows and is abundant and wonderful. I trained in India, doing my initial 200 yours Astanga Vinyasa training. and then Hatha yoga training at Kirshnamacharya Yoga Mandiram in Chennai, which softened and slowed down both my teaching and practice.
I enjoy teaching Hatha yoga to groups of all ages and abilities. Getting on my mat keeps my life going well. I wish to share these benefits with anyone who cares to try.
I have travelled so much but now I live a simple life in the countryside of Las Alpujarras."
